What is Insect Guard?

Insect Guard repellent apparel are revolutionary products designed to provide long-lasting, effective and convenient personal insect protection. The durable protection provided by Insect Guard apparel and gear is the result of years of research and testing. Insect Guard apparel combines the Insect Guard process with a formulation of the insect repellent permethrin—resulting in effective, odorless insect protection that lasts the expected lifetime of a garment.

Insect Guard works better than conventional repellants because insects usually die on first contact, meaning they can't keep returning to try and bite like other repellants.

Which insects does Insect Guard repel?

Insect Guard repellent has been proven and registered to repel mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, fleas, chiggers and midges. Many species and varieties of these insects have been tested, including those that can carry dangerous diseases.

What are the benefits of Insect Guard over other forms of insect protection?

Insect Guard protection puts insect repellency near your skin, instead of on it, and the protection is odorless and invisible.  Many insects die on first contact with Insect Guard, so they can't return to try and bite an unprotected ares.  The repellency is long lasting, so no re-application is needed, which is convenient, and can help alleviate concerns about overuse and misuse of repellent.

How much protection is provided by Insect Guard repellent apparel?

A small item of Insect Guard protected clothing provides less repellency than a larger one. You may need to adjust the amount of Insect Guard apparel you wear, depending on the number of biting insects that are present. For example, you might prefer to wear pants instead of shorts in certain situations; long sleeves instead of short; or add a hat and socks.

Does the product have an odor?

No. Insect Guard protection is invisible, odorless and colourless, and does not change the feel of the garment.

How long will Insect Guard protection last?

The repellency of Insect Guard protection is registered to last through 70 launderings or 12 months.

How do you care for Insect Guard products?

For items that can be washed, normal home laundering is recommended. Insect Guard repellent apparel can be bleached, starched, pressed, etc., without effect on the repellent quality; however, it should not be dry-cleaned.

Do Insect Guard products require special storage?

No. And the repellency has a long shelf life. Insect Guard-treated garments stored for ten years have shown no loss of repellent effectiveness.

Who recommends permethrin-treated apparel?

The following international agencies recommend insect-repellent apparel:
• The World Health Organization (WHO), www.who.int
